Hosting SessionsHost Controls

Host Controls

As the host, you have full control over the pace and flow of your game. A host control bar appears at the bottom of your screen (only visible to you) with all the tools you need.

Controls by Phase

In the Lobby

Before the game starts, you can:

  • See who has joined — the player list updates in real time as people enter
  • Wait for more players — the lobby stays open as long as you need
  • Start the game — when everyone is in and you are ready, hit Start

[!TIP] There is no rush in the lobby. Take your time to make sure everyone has joined before kicking things off.

During Questions

Once the game is live, each question flows through an automatic sequence: intro, answering, reveal. The game auto-advances through these phases based on your timer settings.

While questions are active, you have several controls at your fingertips:

ControlWhat It Does
PauseFreezes the game and all timers. Players see a “paused” screen. Hit Resume when you are ready to continue.
Force RevealSkips the answering phase and jumps straight to revealing the correct answer. Useful if everyone has already answered.
Next QuestionMoves immediately to the next question, skipping whatever is left of the current one.
Skip TimerSkips the current timer and advances to the next phase of the current question.
End SessionEnds the game early. This requires a confirmation dialog — you will not accidentally nuke a game in progress.

What You Can See

As the host, you get extra visibility that players do not have:

  • Player count — always visible so you know how many are in the game
  • Answer progress — during the answering phase, you can see how many players have submitted their answers (without seeing what they picked)

This helps you decide when to move things along. If everyone has answered, there is no need to wait for the timer to run out — just hit Force Reveal or Skip Timer.

Pausing the Game

Need a break? Hit Pause at any time during the game. When paused:

  • All timers freeze immediately
  • Players see a “paused” indicator on their screens
  • The game resumes exactly where it left off when you hit Resume

Great for bathroom breaks, unexpected interruptions, or just catching your breath between rounds.

Ending a Session Early

If you need to wrap things up before all questions are done, you can End Session from the host controls. This will:

  • Stop the game immediately
  • Cancel the session (it will show as “Cancelled” in your session history)
  • Players will see a “session ended” screen

[!WARNING] Ending a session early cannot be undone. A confirmation dialog will pop up to make sure you really want to end it. Scores up to that point are still recorded.
