Session Settings
Every session can be fine-tuned to fit your style. Whether you want a fast-paced blitz or a relaxed game night, these settings let you dial things in. You configure them when launching a session.
Timers
Timers control the pacing of each question phase.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Question Intro | 5 seconds | How long the question intro screen is displayed before answers appear |
| Answer Timer | 20 seconds | How long players have to submit their answer |
| Reveal Timer | 10 seconds | How long the correct answer is shown |
| Leaderboard Timer | 10 seconds | How long the leaderboard is displayed between questions |
| Auto-Start Timer | 180 seconds (3 min) | If enabled, the game automatically starts after this countdown. Useful for self-service sessions where you set it and walk away. |
[!TIP] For younger audiences or casual games, bump the answer timer up to 30 seconds to keep things relaxed. For competitive groups, try 10 or 15 seconds to keep the pressure on.
Player Settings
Control who can join and how.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Max Players | Unlimited | Set a cap on how many players can join your session |
| Allow Late Joiners | Enabled | Let players join even after the game has started |
| Require Nickname | Enabled | Players must enter a display name before joining |
Scoring
Customize how points are awarded.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Base Points | 1000 | Points awarded for a correct answer |
| Scoring Mode | Speed Bonus | Speed Bonus — faster answers earn more points. Fixed — everyone gets the same points regardless of speed. |
| Streak Multiplier | Enabled | Consecutive correct answers boost your score. The bonus builds up to 25% extra at a streak of 5 or more. |
| Text Answer Similarity | 90% | For text-based questions, how close a typed answer needs to be to the correct answer to count. Lower values are more forgiving of typos. |
[!NOTE] Speed Bonus mode rewards quick thinking — the faster you answer correctly, the more points you earn. Fixed mode is great when you want to focus purely on knowledge without time pressure affecting scores.
Display
Control what players see during and after the game.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Show Leaderboard Between Questions | Enabled | Display the leaderboard after each question |
| Show Leaderboard at End | Enabled | Display the final leaderboard when the game ends |
| Display Podium | Enabled | Show a podium for the top 3 players at the end |
| Results Visibility | Public | Public — anyone can view results. Participants Only — only players who were in the session can see results. Host Only — only you can see results. |
Teams
If you are running a team game, these settings control how team scoring works.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Team Leaderboard | Disabled | Enable a separate leaderboard that ranks teams |
| Team Score Calculation | Sum | Sum — total of all team members’ scores. Average — average score across the team. Highest — the highest individual score on the team counts. |
[!TIP] Using Average for team scoring keeps things fair when teams have different sizes. Learn more about team play at Teams.
Power-Ups
Power-ups add a strategic twist to your games. You can enable or disable them entirely, or fine-tune how they work.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Power-Ups | Enabled | Turn power-ups on or off for the session |
| Power-Ups Every X Questions | 2 | How often power-ups are distributed to players |
| Max Power-Ups Per Player | Varies | Limit how many power-ups a single player can hold per session |
| Per Power-Up Configuration | Varies | Enable or disable specific power-up types individually |

Soundtrack
Add some atmosphere to your game with optional background music during gameplay. Toggle it on or off when configuring your session. The music plays for all players during question phases and adds a nice energy to live events.
[!TIP] Background music works especially well for in-person events where the sound is playing through speakers. For remote games, players hear it on their own devices.
