Avatar Ambush
The Avatar Ambush power-up lets you sabotage a specific opponent by throwing a disruptive visual distraction onto their screen. It is chaotic, it is fun, and it is incredibly effective at breaking someone’s focus.

How It Works
- During the Power-Up Selection phase, pick Avatar Ambush.
- Select which opponent you want to ambush.
- When the next question starts, the targeted player sees a disruptive visual effect overlaid on their screen, making it harder to focus and answer quickly.
- The distraction lasts for a portion of the question timer, eating into their thinking time.
What the Target Sees
The targeted player gets hit with a distraction overlay on their screen along with a message: “You’re under attack!” The visual effect makes it harder to read the question and select an answer, putting them at a real disadvantage.
Conflict Rule
To keep things fair, there is a limit on how many times a single player can be ambushed:
- You cannot ambush the same player more than a set number of times per session (this limit is configurable by the host).
- If you try to target a player who has already been ambushed too many times, you will get a “target locked” notification and need to choose a different target.
This prevents everyone from piling on one player and keeps the competition balanced.
[!TIP] Strategy tip: Target players who are on a hot streak to break their momentum. A well-timed ambush can turn a confident leader into a flustered one, especially on tighter time limits.
When to Use It
- When a specific player is dominating and you want to shake things up
- On questions with short timers where the distraction eats into valuable seconds
- When you want to play the villain (in a fun, friendly way)
