Configuring Power-Ups
As a host, you have full control over how power-ups work in your sessions. Tweak the settings to match your event’s style — whether you want a casual game with lots of power-ups or a competitive session with limited strategic options.
[!NOTE] Power-ups are a subscriber-only feature. You will need an active subscription to enable them. Check out our Subscription page for plan details.
Where to Find the Settings
- Go to your Dashboard.
- Navigate to Power-Ups in the settings menu.
- Adjust the global settings — these apply to all your sessions by default.
- Optionally, override settings per-session when launching a new game.
Global Settings
These settings control the overall power-up experience:
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Power-Ups | Turn the entire power-up system on or off | Off |
| Every X Questions | How often players get a chance to pick a power-up | Every 2 questions |
| Max Per Player | Total power-up uses each player gets per session | 2 |
| Selection Timer | How many seconds players have to choose a power-up | 15 seconds |
| Purchase with Points | Allow players to buy extra power-up uses with their score points | Off |
[!TIP] For shorter games (10 questions or fewer), consider setting “Every X Questions” to 3 or higher so power-ups feel special. For longer sessions, every 2 questions keeps the energy up.
Per Power-Up Configuration
Beyond global settings, you can fine-tune each individual power-up type:
- Enable/disable specific power-up types — only offer the ones that fit your session
- Set max uses per type — limit how many times a single player can use a specific power-up
- Configure specific values — for example, set the multiplier value for the Points Multiplier (2x, 3x, etc.)
This gives you flexibility to create the exact experience you want. Running a friendly casual game? Maybe disable Avatar Ambush to keep things mellow. Running a competitive showdown? Crank up the multiplier and let the chaos fly.
Per-Session Overrides
When launching a new session, you can override any of the global settings just for that game. This is useful when you want different rules for different events without changing your defaults.
