Team Play in Sessions
Once your teams are set up, here’s how they come to life during a trivia session.
Assigning Teams to a Session
When you launch a session, you can assign the teams you want to include. Only the teams you select will be available for players to join. You can learn more about session configuration in Session Settings.
How Players Join a Team
When players enter the lobby, they’ll see a Team Selection Overlay where they can pick the team they want to play for. It’s as simple as tapping a team badge.
[!NOTE] If teams are assigned to a session but a player doesn’t pick one, they’ll play as an individual. Their score won’t count toward any team total, but they can still compete on the individual leaderboard.
Host Controls
The host has extra power when it comes to teams:
- Assign players directly — If you’d rather manage the lineup yourself, you can assign players to teams from the host controls instead of letting them choose.
- Balance teams — Keep an eye on team sizes to make sure the competition stays fair.
During Gameplay
- Team badges appear next to player names so everyone knows who’s on which team.
- Team leaderboard shows between questions (if enabled), so players can track how their team is doing in real time.
- Individual scores still count — Players compete individually while also contributing to their team’s total.
The Team Podium
At the end of the session, a Team Podium celebrates the top teams. The podium shows the top 3 teams along with their scores. If you’ve assigned team prizes, they’ll be displayed here too.
[!TIP] For the best team experience, encourage players to pick their teams before the game starts. A little friendly trash talk in the lobby never hurts!
